facebook_search: Facebook Search for Old Friends

Facebook Search
Social Searcher site allows to search on Facebook without logging in. One may use any keywords to narrow down the search results around Facebook. It's really handy while searching for old friends and you don't remember a lot about them. Also Facebook still has no search engine at all and in build search is glitching very often.
According to the site information, Social Searcher is built upon combination of Google custom search and Facebook’s publicly available API.
Here are some Facebook Search tips for this service:

1. Phrase search (””)
By putting double quotes around a set of words, you are telling Facebook Search to consider the exact words in that exact order without any change. For example, search
“Obama Plans to Keep Estate Tax”
will find only facebook pages where this article from WSJ is shared.

2. Terms you want to exclude (-)
Attaching a minus sign immediately before a word indicates that you do not want pages that contain this word to appear in your results. The minus sign should appear immediately before the word and should be preceded with a space. For example, query
Cars in USA -Chevrolet
will exclude all references to Chevrolet from the search result on Facebook.

3. The OR operator
Facebook Search’s default behavior is to consider all the words in a search. If you want to specifically allow either one of several words, you can use the OR operator (note that you have to type ‘OR’ in ALL CAPS). For example, query
Real estate in USA 2009 OR 2010
will give you results about either one of these years.

princessbobesca: advice on Facebook fan page promotion

Hi, guys.  I'm new to the community.

I really need some advice and I'm hoping maybe some of you folks might be able to help me.

I'm running a revival project for a TV show I'm trying to revive/bring back.  Here is a link to my fan page.  I also have a twitter and a tumblr in conjunction with my fan page to post updates and such.

I've been going to two different fan pages - the Nickelodeon and Jimmy Neutron official fan pages, twice a day to promote my project to try and get the word out.  I also have been tweeting and posting promotional information on my twitter and tumblr daily as well.

People I don't even know are getting upset with me, especially on Facebook, because they are seeing my promotions for my fan page show up on their newsfeeds a lot (which, if they belong to the Nick or JN fan pages, will show up on their feeds on a daily basis) and think that I am spamming.

My intention is not to spam, but to try to get the word out about my project so I can gain new fans and get new petition signatures on my online petition.

Many other revival projects I've seen for other shows have several admins on them.  I'm running my revival project all by myself.  I don't really know what I'm doing because I've never done this sort of a thing before, but I work really hard every day on my project.  I don't just promote it, but I make updates as well.

The only thing I want to do is get the word out about my project without spamming, but I don't really know how to do it.  Obviously posting my promotinal plugs twice a day on the Nick and JN fan pages is out entirely because it's starting to irritate people.  I can't afford Facebook ads, or I would do that instead.

I was wondering if there was anyone else here who has a fan page who can give me any advice about how to promote my project in a way that won't spam or offend people.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks so much.

nherizu: I need your help, dear Facebookers :)

Hello! Hopefully I'm not being such a shameless person, but I really need your help 8D

I'm currently participating on a Facebook Panasonic Beauty & Talent Contest, and I really eed your vote. Now I'm chosen as one of The Top 100 Candidates, and I need votes to make me through the selection as the Top 50 candidates (then i'll need another vote until I'm in to the Top 24 and 12 Candidates). So, I beg for your kindness, please vote for me?? :D

How to vote (please follow these steps as the page is in Indonesian):
  1. log on to your FB account.
  2. Go to HERE, and then click 'LIKE' on the Panasonic Indonesia page.
  3. Go to the ZOOM IN BEAUTY tab, and click VOTE.
  4. Then click the FIRST page and find my name, I'm NELLY.
  5. 5. Click VOTE under my picture.
OR you can simply search for my name in the search bar. There's only one Nelly. If you're confused of where the search bar is, follow this picture:

There will be this notification: 1 Results, Click for Details. -> Click on it.
And then VOTE! 8D

I will be waiting for your vote. Thank you so much in advance, and how I will love you always for votting for me ^^
And if you'd like, please add me, I'm 25 and Indonesian :D
